Supp!
Welcome to the Amateur Pioneer’s Logic log.
It’s a bit of a mouthful so here’s the breakdown of the name:
Amateur : “A person who engages in a study, sport, or other activity for pleasure rather than for financial benefit or professional reasons.”. Basically we’re beginning something we’re passionate about which is not just this blog, but also this whole project “The Cavern”.
Pioneer : “A person who is among those who first enter or settle a region, thus opening it for occupation and development by others.”. We’re creating this space for everyone to discuss, learn, and create ideas. People often tend to use the word ‘entrepreneur’ to describe this project… I’m not the biggest fan of that word, it gets misused a lot and just doesn’t sound as good as pioneer.
Logic : “Reasoning conducted or assessed according to strict principles of validity.”. The topics we discuss are on the boundaries of science. We use scientific evidence to examine the facts, then explain where and how the scientific line has been crossed. For example, in terms of quantum physics, theories such as string theory, and worlds we just don’t fully understand yet like the mind. Don’t let this scare you! Remember, we’re just debating and considering concepts about what may or may not be.

This blog is about our thoughts surrounding general and interesting life topics. I say ‘our’ because it’s never just me writing. Before we write, we have an immersive discussion on the topic and receive a wide range of thoughts and opinions. We discuss with an open mind and constantly question each other trying to expand our thoughts.
The types of topics we discuss vary greatly. So if you’re looking for a blog that discusses a certain topic this probably isn’t the right place. On the other hand if you’re looking for something that talks about a collection of different topics from what you should do after school, to the future of the earth, and the different paths we as a species might follow; comparing the meaning of life on Earth to its meaning in the universe.
And now about myself, as in the person physically writing this – remember! I have a large and diverse set of very enthusiastic, unique, and outgoing friends to discuss a range of ideas with. Well, I’m just a happy-go-lucky coastie that has moved into the heart of Sydney. Finished a computer science degree and love talking about ideas whether they be a simple and small invention or dynamic plans for taking over the world. I’m open to any thoughts and criticism, and would love to hear it.

The reason for the logo. This being the first post, I might as well explain everything and get it all out the way. I come from a very artistic background, so quite a bit of thought has gone into it. Prepare yourself. The apple and brain represent mind and body, two things that control our whole perspective of the universe; you can have an amazing body but you are still constrained by any restrictions you have on your mind. Vice versa, you can have an amazing mind but be limited to the experiences you have throughout life. Red has one of the most attached meanings, extending from lust and passion to war and danger – also, it’s my favourite colour. White/grey represents a ‘blank canvas’: we look at every topic with a pure, open mind, even to the spiritual level. Fun fact (FF) the brain and all our organs are actually white, it’s the blood that colours them pink and red. The brain is also pulsing at my average heartbeat 60 bpm. The green – besides just meaning growth and learning – is also is a bridging colour, linking the warm and cool (or linking mind and body).
Well that’s enough rambling! Just thought I’d get all the bits and bobs out the way. I promise next week will be a lot more interesting. Talk to you then.
Cheers, Dyl
